Why am I working overseas?

I'm passionate about development work and enjoy personal growth and achievement. I'm always striving to improve my skills and learn English in order to work more happily and passionately as a developer. To achieve these goals, I have also gained experience working overseas.

I'm confident in my programming skills, but when I think about working until retirement, I worry about continuing as a software developer. Technology in our field advances rapidly, making it difficult to keep up. So, I decided to learn English to stabilize my career as a developer. I thought fluent English would allow me to work anywhere and find jobs easily, but reality proved to be more challenging.

By sharing my experience, I hope it will help someone else with their working life abroad.

By the way, who are you?

I'm a full-stack developer living in Vancouver since August 2020.

When seeking work overseas, it's crucial to have an English resume, practice self-promotion, and prepare for interviews.

It's also wise to research cultural differences and business etiquette in the country where you want to work.

I believe luck is the most important factor in landing a job. Apply to companies and polish your CV.

I particularly struggled with phone interviews, as sometimes the speaker had an accent that made it difficult to understand them. Additionally, poor internet connections occasionally disrupted our conversations.
